most jws don't focus on these teachings at first and will instead focus on more appealing bible teachings.
And the older jw would stay because of loyalty to the organization
They would stay out of loyalty to themselves and their families that are still in. Too much hassle to get D/Aed or D/Fed after 50 or 60 years in. The threat of being shunned is just too great for many.

reading jeff's thread about dress made me think of my one and only trip to bethel.. i can't remember if i was babtised at the time, but i went with a bus load of jws.. like someone said in the last thread, printing presses and empty rooms.
i was very disapointed, however i don't think i had any pre-concieved notions of what it would be like.
what i was diapointed in was so much of the "tour" was walking hallways looking at exhibits behind glass.
Germany: huge, impressive. Very clean, modern. Kingdom Hall, nice architecture. Remember a small signboard giving the weekly times on visits from dentist, psychiatrist and doctor.
psychiatrist - in Bethel? You mean they have mental health problems there also?

wanted to let everyone know that i've finally graduated college with a bachelors degree!
ended up earning magna cum laude.. it's difficult to describe the sense of accomplishment.
i still kick myself for listening to the wts when i was a kid and forsaking "higher education".
Great news. You will NEVER regret doing it. After I was married we took the decision that I would go to Uni to improve my employment opportunities. The degree has paid for itself over and over again.

Went to London Bethel about 1993. It was going through some form of refurbishment so we never saw anything. Just wandered along corridors and peered through doorways. Complete waste of time. Lasted less than an hour. Never again!

with the "generation change" and them changing it all the time it would make sence to dump it all togeather.. lets face it ,it can be disproved easly.. they dumped 1975 in a heart beat .. this would buy them all the time they wanted as they would just find another date to start the generation from ie: "the u.n year of peace and sercurty'',1986 i belive or whatever else they could think of.. they could sell it to the r&f as easly as they sold 1975,then dumped it when it did'nt happen .. anyone questioning them would be told they are running ahead of jehovah or lacking faith in his earthly org that feeds us food at the proper time .. what do you think?.

Long term they will have to dump 1914 but I think it will hurt them numerically. That is why they haven't done before even though they know it's wrong. Probably when they are fully ensconced in the new cult HQ and the old timers of the GB (Barr & Jaracz) are gone they will.
No doubt they will blame the R & F for reading too much into the date anyway. They never said it was absolutely significant!

A copy of this has been on our KH notice board for the last couple of years or so. When it arrived there was a Service Meeting item on it and an urgent message the following meeting for it to be returned. Someone had 'borrowed' it.
Interestly there has never been a Bethel Tour from the cong during this time, just no interest apparently. (Or should that be evidently)

this is a serious question, trying to decide the right thing to do.........i do believe in god, i am sorting out what i believe and true from lie and such.
have question on how atheist and just ones belief in god would respond to this.. .
if you have a grandparent, (or even some relative) who spent their entire life as a jw.
My only real worry is that they deed everything to the WTS....that will piss me off.
They would gladly take every penny even if it left you destitute. They even take money from the disfellowshipped!!

i had been getting my hope up that this new generation teaching wouldn't make sense and cause my jw friends and family to wake up.i even asked my mom to explain the new generation teaching, but she didn't even know what i meant!

This is the problem with JW's policy of 'don't get an education' and 'don't think'. They are expected to shelve any doubts or areas they do not understand and WAIT ON JEHOVAH!
I've been on the shores of the Red Sea for 60+ years and really need a change of scenery.
